BioA complex person, I am for sure. It's hard to say in a word or to who I am, what I do, and what I enjoy. I would like to think that I am not solely defined by life work; however, the majority of my week is spent in one of three activities: class, or one of my two jobs. I love to learn, and have proven my passion by completing college Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Communications and Journalism and going on to graduate school to become a certifie recreation therapist. To pay the bills I work part-time as a nanny - which I love, and part-time as a writer for my university's state-run institute on disabilities - which I hate.
But that's not who I am. As my roommate puts it, I'm verging on being a hippie. I have fresh organic fruits and veggies delivered to my door. I take my own canvas tote to the store with me to save bags, I eat "weird" (i.e. healthy, vegetarian) food, I sponsor a child living in the Domican Republic, and I am a card-carrying member of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, PETA.org). I have a natural style; I prefer tees, jeans and flip-flops to all else. I prefer my record player and albums of Janis, The Doors, etc., to the radio or CDs. I guess you could say I am a modern day hippie with a slight girly twist - as I do enjoy occasionally dressing up, I LOVE the color pink, and always have and forever will spend every penny that I have on new clothes (though I donate all the old to women's shelters).
And what's the rest about? I love my family, my cats, playing the guitar, piano and singing, kids, cooking, writing, reading, watching movies, and exploring new places.
